I use Adobe Premiere Pro to make short promotional videos for our products and services. As a small business, we must present a professional appearance without having to spend a small fortune on video production services, and Adobe Premiere Pro allows us to easily create videos that look like we spent a lot of money on them.
  • Easily allows for layout of still and video elements.
  • Easy to incorporate soundtracks and narrations
  • The learning curve is a bit high. If you have experience with other Adobe products (Photoshop/Illustrator), it is a lot easier to pick up.
  • Like all video editors, it's a bit of a resource hog. Make sure you have as much RAM as possible, and at least 500GB of an available scratch disk.
Outside of making simple slide shows, Adobe Premiere Pro is pretty much the best software for editing video around. There is a reason that so many major motion picture studios use it. When you couple it with Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop, Animate, Audition, and After Effects, you have an entire movie studio on your desktop. If you have experience in one of the programs, you can easily pick up the others. Better yet, if you have Adobe's Creative Cloud, you already have the software, you don't have to get separate licenses for everything.

Adobe Premiere Pro is an essential part of daily work for my business. As the small business owner of a video production company, video editing is my bread and butter. I needed a reasonably cost-effective software that's user-friendly, constantly updated, and powerful enough to produce videos quickly. Premiere Pro does exactly what I need.
  • Premiere Pro is extremely popular, being included in the Creative Cloud Suite. Because of widespread use, it's updated frequently and has plenty of troubleshooting forums and online discussions to search for issues and understanding the software. Frequent updates can also have cons, but for the most part, new features become welcome changes and bugs are fixed relatively quickly.
  • Premiere Pro is fairly easy to learn and makes for an excellent professional editing software or a great learning tool for new editors. The interface is simple to navigate and one can organize windows to their own preferences. Video editing becomes somewhat intuitive after repeated use of the software, simply due to how familiar Premiere Pro feels as one spends more time with it.
  • Premiere Pro offers many options for accomplishing your editing goals. Different editors prefer to cut sequences together using varying methods. Some might use the trim clip editor, while others would rather use the razor blade to cut clips. Some editors might use (.) to insert clips into a timeline, while others might use in and out points. The plethora of options at your fingertips makes Premiere Pro approachable and leaves lots of room for editors to define their own personal workflow.
  • As I've mentioned, frequent updates can carry negative consequences. Some newer features don't seem to be particularly well-developed or even tested. The new-ish "text tool" is a welcome change from the original "title editor," but it feels incomplete and lacking. The Team Projects feature has led to the loss of a full day of editing work, which made an already tight deadline even worse. Converting sequence files into After Effects compositions can be sort of buggy. These are specifics, but of course, there are instances of tried and true features which randomly become broken upon updating. These are typical software development headaches, but it happens from time to time.
  • I'd once heard Adobe chooses to compete for their development teams against one another instead of cohesively collaborate. I've no source on this other than gabbing with co-workers who'd visited an Adobe office at one point, but the more I've used Adobe software, the more I believe this to be true. Some Adobe programs use different keyboard shortcuts to accomplish the same command. Sometimes .psd and .ai files don't play well in Premiere. All other programs allow holding spacebar + hold left mouse button to scan around your image (or in this case, program monitor), but for some reason, Premiere doesn't support this same functionality. Why can't I scroll into the program monitor to zoom into the image? Instead, I have to click and select a zoom, then I have to use scroll bars to position the monitor onto the desired part of an image. It's frustrating and causes more trouble than good.
  • I'm appreciative of the options I have in Premiere Pro, but other Adobe programs do different things better. Of course Illustrator is great for design and illustration, and of course, I can't expect Premiere to run similar keyframed motion like After Effects. It would be great to have basic motion blur functionality, or a streamlined shape layer editor, or maybe a mask editor that didn't automatically apply a feathering to each mask I create.
Anyone hoping to move up from the ranks of "home movie" editor should probably bite the bullet to use Premiere Pro. I'm too unfamiliar with other comparable software (Sony Vegas?), and can basically never make the recommendation to use anything else, especially when a Creative Cloud membership nets you the slew of Adobe products. It's practically essential to have access to all of these programs. If you are just editing a few fast videos for friends or never intend on making money with video editing, Premiere Pro is probably a luxury and not worth the money.

We use Adobe Premiere Pro to produce promotional videos of our events and videos highlighting the Library and our programs. It is an excellent product and easy to use. The videos are high quality and look professional. The product also includes tons of video effects which are easy to apply.
  • Editing High Resolution videos
  • Digital Video Effects
  • Video Production
  • It's the goto product for the movie industry and adobe support is excellent
  • The product requires a highly speced PC due to the video resolution and requirements
It is well suited for video production and editing and producing professional looking videos with ease. Their is a little learning curve but the product includes excellent training and support.

I have personally used Adobe Premiere Pro for over a decade. I use it to edit personal videos and also create videos for our on-line company advertising. It is considered the 'de-facto' standard for good reason - if it can't be done in Adobe Premiere Pro, it probably can't be done.
  • An abundance of Filter options
  • Separating sound and video elements
  • moving Text Balloons
  • I think Adobe Premiere Pro could really benefit from a better 'Quick Tutorial' feature.
  • Reorganization of all of the menus are in order - they have just gotten very long and could be more concise.
If you work with editing videos - it pays to take the time and learn Adobe Premiere Pro. Once over the initial learning curve (which can be steep), your videos will come alive easier and more professional looking using the features in Adobe Premiere Pro.

Our Video Department uses Adobe Premiere Pro for all of our online video needs. Whether it be online classes, marketing[,] and social media videos- Adobe Premiere Pro is used to create them all. I have also used Adobe Premiere Pro at previous production jobs and continue to use it on personal projects and freelancing gigs.
  • Compatible with After Effects, Photoshop, and Illustrator
  • Keyboard shortcuts that can mirror competitor software
  • Fast rendering and ability to customize your layouts
  • I tend to run into crash issues at least a few times a month
  • The production component needs some work
  • The essential graphics panel is nice but could allow for more customizations
I have actually recommended Adobe Premiere Pro to many people looking to get into the editing field. It is perfect for any type of video creation. It would not be very useful for someone who isn't serious about video editing and wants to just use something to cut out the beginning or ends of clips. It's too advanced for that and [maybe] confusing for someone not educated in the field.

We use Adobe Premiere Pro in conjunction with other Adobe Creative Cloud Apps to edit video media for our company and for our clients. Adobe Premiere Pro is our video production solution. It is a complete solution that we use to edit and produce highly professional video media. We use it internally and also with our outside contractors. Adobe Premiere Pro is a robust software that gets constantly updated with the Adobe Creative Cloud subscription.
  • Producing High Quality Video media for our company.
  • It has all the tools you need to create unique pieces of work.
  • It integrates well with all the other apps of the Adobe Creative Cloud suite.
  • It works on all platforms, not just apple computers.
  • Premiere pro has a big learning curve. Adobe addresses this by offering stripped down versions of video editing software under a different app name.
  • The user interface is intimidating to new users. The layout is made for veteran users.
  • Premiere Pro is really for professionals and not beginners.
Adobe Premiere Pro explains just what it is in its name, for the Pros. If you're new to video editing, you may want to try some lower end software such as Camtasia. Adobe Premiere Pro is for the professionals. You would need to take a course or go through a bunch of tutorials to start using the software. I am self taught through watching online tutorials. I'm sure if I can do it, you can too. The interface can be very overwhelming to beginners. But if you want a full solution for your video edits, I recommend getting Adobe Premiere Pro and learning how to use it.

Adobe Premiere Pro is my software of choice for all video editing projects, ranging from the smallest Instagram promotional clip to full-length documentaries. Its workflow integration with other Adobe products like After Effects, Audition, and Media Encoder make it a no-brainer when selecting a software ecosystem to produce digital media. Using the full suite, project turnaround times are vastly superior to using individual, non-integrated software solutions instead.
  • Seamless integration with After Effects
  • Titles and Essential Graphics are unique to Premiere and very useful
  • Powerful effects built-in like the Warp Stabilizer
  • Auto-save can be finnicky, be sure to save often
  • When a crash happens, the error messages can be unhelpful
  • Cache files build up quickly, clear them out often
Adobe Premiere Pro is an incredibly flexible editing program that is well-suited to an extremely broad range of applications. If you have the time to learn it or are already familiar with non-linear editors, then I highly recommend it as a solution to any video editing needs. However, if you don't have this experience and don't have the time to learn, the learning-curve can sometimes be difficult, so a more beginner-focused solution might be better suited.

Adobe Premiere Pro is being used to edit a majority of our videos that we release on Youtube and Facebook ads. It has also been a place where we've recently done TikTok videos. It is the best when it comes down to video editing and exporting multiple sizes and formats.
  • It has all the features you can ask for in video editing software.
  • You can export videos in multiple sizes and formats.
  • This video editing software is industry standard for most video editing.
  • It's complicated and not takes a while to learn.
  • There can be better hand-holding when it comes to starting the app.
  • I wish there was a slimmed-down version for simple editing.
Adobe Premiere Pro is by far the best video editing program out there if you are recording something that will be consumed by thousands of people. If you are already using the Adobe Suite, this software makes it easy to integrate. It is less appropriate to use if you just need simple video editing.

Adobe Premiere Pro is used across the entirety of our university by students, staff, and faculty alike. Students and faculty in programs such as Film Studies or Video Production use Premiere to create video projects as part of course assignments. Staff in departments such as Marketing, Communications, and our department of Online Learning use Premiere consistently to create content for consumption both within the university as well as outside it. While the program may seem complicated at first glance, Premiere allows these users to create engaging video content if they dedicate time to learning the tool.
  • Premiere can handle almost any type of codec and can manage source clips with different codecs all in the same sequence. Other NLEs sometimes struggle with this.
  • Premiere can dynamically link with other products in the Adobe Suite, such as After Effects and Audition. This allows the user to make changes in those programs that then get automatically reflected back into Premiere.
  • Premiere's user base has established a strong community online, with many people developing additional toolsets that can be imported into Premiere to even further flesh out its already robust feature set.
  • The biggest drawback for Premiere is not unique to it, but is something that affects all products in the Adobe Creative Suite: the user must maintain a subscription to the service to continue using it. You cannot just "buy Premiere" and then have it forever. Subscription-based models for revenue are not customer-friendly.
  • While the developers have made great strides in this area, Premiere's text tool still needs significant work. Using the tool with a large amount of text causes the program to lag or sometimes crash.
Premiere Pro is a very versatile product capable of handling projects regardless of their complexity. I find it particularly easy to iterate projects within the program which allows me to quickly take older projects and repurpose them for a new use. Collaboration within the Adobe Creative Suite is also a strength here, as it allows multiple people to work together on a project and have all of the content come back into Premiere seamlessly.

As a staff and organization almost all of our video editing is done in house with Adobe Premiere Pro. We use this for Full service videos, promotional videos, music videos, and announcements, basically anything we want to communicate or promote through video is edited with Premiere Pro. Having used some other video editors in the past, we've landed on Premiere as a great professional editor for all of our needs.
  • Premiere is able to import video in almost any format and has a number of excellent export formats and styles.
  • Premiere has a great interface that once learned feels very intuitive.
  • Premiere aligns easily with the other suite of Adobe software allowing for easy integration of graphics and audio.
  • Premiere Pro does have a bit of a learning curve and may take some time and work to get comfortable in. Once settled in though, it's a great program.
  • As with any video editing program, Premiere uses a lot of computer resources and will crash occassionally.
  • Because of the massive amount of editing and work you can do in Premiere, it's easy to get lost in menus/features.
Adobe Premiere Pro seems to be industry standard for video editing. For any type of video promotion or production Premiere is a great software for tidying up and correcting video color and audio as well as an easy editor to bring multiple clips together into a seamless production. Because it is the professional version, for casual video editing it may be too much program.

It is used by the Editing Department. We use it to create the entirety of our product, from the consolidation of video footage to graphic assembly to exporting. It addressed the business problem of product generation. It is, in my opinion, the best editing software that is on the market.
  • Easy playback: Other editing software I've used in the past has required rendering for each playback in an editing timeline. Not Premiere.
  • Easy interface: I switched from Final Cut Pro 7 to Premiere very easily. The learning curve was minimal.
  • Flexible interface: Custom keyboard shortcuts help me make an even easier editing machine.
  • Export times: I do a massive amount of exports with intensive graphics. They often need to be done quickly. If export times could be reduced by 90%, my life would improve drastically.
  • Importing errors: Certain video formats are not compatible, such as specific types of MP4s and MKV files. Greater flexibility would be wonderful.
  • End the subscription model. I'd gladly pay one flat fee once and be done with it.
If you are a professional editor, then this is the software for you. It's easy to learn, easy to use, and you can change it to whatever you need your workflow to be. If you just need some light video editing, then Premiere may not be for you. Home videos, social media pieces, and other easier pieces don't require the heavy-duty nature of Premiere.

We would create videos of our students during their time at Starbase and then show the video during our “graduation ceremony”. We would also make videos of our lessons to share with parents and edit them in Premiere Pro. We also used this to snip together footage we had received to use as teaching tools in the classroom.
  • Editing
  • Green screen
  • Shipping together footage
  • Transitions
  • Adding text/effects
  • High quality videos
  • Difficult to just “pickup and learn”
  • Not easy to know correct rendering/saving options
  • Tutorials could be better and more available
Anytime you need to make a video or edit a video, this is my go-to software. It is great for any organization or individual looking to do so.

Adobe Premiere Pro has been essential to telling our company story. We use Adobe Premiere Pro to create videos for all of our social media avenues. The goal with our videos is to attract young, hungry, talented software developers to work for us. At the same time, we hope the videos will encourage small businesses to reach out to us so that we can add value to their company.
  • Not a steep learning curve
  • Advanced video editing techniques
  • Somewhat beginner friendly
  • It's just intimidating upfront
  • Could use a guide on keyboard shortcuts
If you're looking for a video editing machine that can do it all, this is the one. Smaller/free video editing platforms just don't have enough capability to produce high-quality videos--especially in the video-everything world we live in today. If you're just making very quick clips and don't care about the quality, you don't need Adobe Premiere Pro.

We use Adobe Premiere Pro every day. We use it across our business for all video work. Before Adobe Premiere Pro, we used some free and some paid video editing programs, and they all worked well in their own right. However, once we got into Adobe Premiere Pro, we found it so much easier and professional at the same time. It helped us accomplish what we couldn't do with the others, which is a streamlined, professional, integrated solution for all our video production.
  • Streamlined
  • Integrated
  • Perhaps a Lite version might help users grasp the program's extensive functionality easier.
  • Understanding the full functionality can be a learning curve.
We love Adobe Premiere Pro for anything to do with video production. We use it for long and short videos, and it handles them efficiently and easily. The short ones render quickly while the long videos take longer, but it is worth the wait. We have seen other video editors on the market that specialize in videos for Internet Marketers, etc., but we prefer to stick with Adobe Premiere Pro.

Adobe Premiere Pro is being used to edit videos that are used in training and training-related activities. The Training department is exclusively using it. It is a great software tool to make professional videos that can be used to simulate role-play’s for Soft Skills and product-based interactions. It allows us to make great videos (usually filmed against a green screen) and turn them into training resources.
  • Editing green screen footage
  • Quickly creating videos from footage shot with a phone or iPad Pro.
  • The interface is a bit clumsy at times, while it makes sense once you figure it out, it isn’t always obvious how to do things.
  • The steep learning curve - it’s powerful, but hard to master.
Adobe Premiere Pro is excellent for basic and advanced video editing. If you want to edit green screen or cobble together a short “movie-like” video for training, it works perfectly. The included transitions and effects are great, but if you are going to go “All in” with Adobe Premiere Pro, you need to know that there is a learning curve. In the end, it’s very logical, but it can be overwhelming at first.

Adobe Premiere Pro is being used by our organization in very specific areas to produce and edit videos for training, commercial marketing, product demonstration, internal communication, and external communication. It is used by a handful of creatives as their tool set to create finished pieces primarily for web deployment, either internally or externally.
  • Robust project organization with multiple inputs.
  • Robust clip editing inside of a project.
  • It is a large tool that has a bit of a learning curve.
  • Efficient file storage is a challenge - you need LOTS of memory to use it.
Adobe Premiere Pro is a great tool for integrating with other products in the Adobe Creative Cloud. In particular, integrations with Adobe Premiere Rush have been a very nice addition to scale and rendering speed when the full kit of tools isn't necessarily required. That said, when you need to do it right, there is no other viable option than using the right tool for the job. If you need to do more granular edits, Adobe Premiere Pro is the only real tool for the job.

We use Adobe Premiere Pro as a tool to edit video and put together video sequences for both internal and external projects. We utilize it to create demo reels for our agency, promotional materials as well as examples/demos for client work. It's one of our main tools when editing or creating video-based projects.
  • Easy to use.
  • Fully integrated into the Creative Cloud suite of tools.
  • Easy to share projects with others.
  • Renders high quality videos.
  • Have to use the entire creative suite of products.
  • Can have some performance issues. Need a strong computer.
  • Learning curve is high.
It's a strong video editing platform that has all the tools you need to create quality projects. It's able to handle all types of video formats and gives you the creative tools to style your videos to your liking. If you have a strong understanding of video production, it's great. Not so great if you just want to throw together a quick video.

I make short videos for posting on social media but also for embedding into websites. I use Adobe Premiere Pro instead of Apple iMovie because it's cross-platform and widely supported by the industry. It's always helpful when you use a piece of software that's considered "the industry standard" and that's truly what I consider Premiere. I've used many other NLE (Non Linear Editing) packages in the past such as Pinnacle, Sony Vegas and even iMovie on iPhone, iPad and Mac. Premiere Pro is the only one of them that 100% works every time to do the work I need done with little to no extra effort.
  • Cross-platform use is important to me. I work on PC/Mac interchangeably and even though the hot keys are slightly different, having feature parity makes this the obvious choice for me. iMovie is a decent enough tool but being tied down to a Mac and working within its limitations is something I'm not comfortable with.
  • Proxy Files - The speed of editing video is increased tremendously when you edit using proxy files rather than the large source files. The downside (especially when learning to work with 4k) is you might not notice details that detract from your finished product when working at that lower resolution.
  • Industry Standard - if you can't figure out how to do it, just hit YouTube and you'll find tons of people working through the same issue and their ways of handling it. Working in a standard tool is so much nicer than being in some exotic toolset tied to particular hardware.
  • Like most Adobe products, they err on the side of complexity and professional use rather than hiding the buttons from the newbies. This can be overwhelming but like I mentioned previously, YouTube is your friend and can teach you more in a few hours than 10 books on the subject.
  • Working with the export presets can be daunting if you don't really understand them. I feel like there are a ton of choices that most people gloss over but maybe that's just me. I almost always export as H.264 - 4K resolution (3840 x 2160) and because the files I'm working with are 1:1 the export usually doesn't take a ridiculous time to render.
I'm by no means a seasoned pro with Adobe Premiere Pro, but for me it's feature-rich and fairly straightforward to use quickly. Speed of editing is the biggest thing I care about because when you're working with video and tweaking, you can easily burn many hours that aren't really billable. Ultimately your customer doesn't want to pay you to learn - they want to pay for your expertise and skills.

That being said there's no law that says you can't give away work you like while learning the ropes and then charge later once you've gotten your feet wet and built some confidence.

RMEF utilizes Premiere Pro for all of our video editing software. As an organization that utilizes the full Adobe suite, our editors are fluent in utilizing it to produce short films, commercials, Instagram content and much more. Currently, we have 3 full-time staff that is proficient in it and our external video production agency also uses it for our productions.
  • Highly capable of creating great work.
  • Simple to use when you learn it.
  • Used by many, if not most of, the professional in the industry.
  • Has a learning curve and no "intro".
  • It can be overly complicated for basic cutting edits.
  • Has a tendency to have trouble with Mac updates.
Adobe Premiere Pro is great for full suite editing. It can be used for everything from commercials to social media content to full-length films. We utilize it for all of the above. It can be overly complicated for basic, quick edits that do not need color correction, fancy transitions, and other creative stylings.

Our CEO is very big on having video incorporated into our brand and content strategy. Adobe Premiere Pro is our choice program to make clean and professional videos. Our videos are used for social media, internal campaigns, advertisements, etc. We used to use Vyond (and still do for certain videos), but to make really creative videos, we use Adobe.
  • Makes professional videos.
  • Great support from Adobe.
  • The effects you can layer on are amazing and there so many to choose from.
  • Links to other Adobe products so the entire suite produces quality and consistent content.
  • Takes time to get used to if you have never touched video software.
  • Adobe suite is an expensive program.
  • Should come with a tutorial for basics.
  • The videos take up a ton of space on my computer, and I would love to store in Adobe to access.
Adobe Premiere Pro is great for making seamless professional videos. It is rather difficult in the beginning for someone who has never made videos. There are programs out there like Vyond that are actually for beginners who can't make videos on their own yet. With some training, and spending time in Adobe though, you can master professional videos for your organization or even for personal use! Great for any freelancer as well!

As a publisher of print magazines, our online digital presence is extensive. For roughly 10 years we have incorporated the use and creation of video content. In the early days, I used iMovie. iMovie is fine for "family videos", but it is not as flexible. We use Adobe Creative Cloud, which uses Premiere Pro. Switching to Premiere has allowed us to do so much more with our content. We also manage multiple shows/events throughout the year. I am the Digital and Video Specialist for the company. I shoot and edit video. I am pretty much the sole user of Premiere. I edit and create both video content and podcasts through premiere pro. We have 4 brands and our video-related content went from just a few videos to hundreds in just a few short years. We now have the opportunity to present our digital content in various formats.
  • Very flexible.
  • Great tool set for editing, manipulating, color correcting and even audio adjustments.
  • Fairly easy to use. Lots of learning online. Just Google what you want to do and someone likely has a video showing you!
  • Sometimes I feel like I am only touching the surface of Premiere Pro's capabilities. I learn something new practically every day.
  • There are a lot of third party add-ons. It would be nice if PP offered more filters.
  • Sometimes trying to get a video to load into the Source Monitor, it doesn't want to work.
  • Export media occasionally fails.
  • PP used to offer a whole bevy of export media options. It was nice! Then they updated the program and took all those away. Not happy about that.
I think PP works great for editing video and even audio. They have made some nice improvements over the years but also took away some features (variety of media export choices). It is flexible and reasonably easy to edit pretty complex video content. Especially where changes are almost inevitable. It is my (only) but go-to program. The more I work with it and in it, the better and faster I am in editing video. I think there is so much more it can do, but I just have not learned yet.

Adobe Premiere Pro lets you easily create and edit video and tutorials. As part of internal learning development, the tool helps with editing both video and eLearning content and easily integrates with the Adobe Creative Cloud. Outside of work, it's a very easy tool to use for school projects, short videos and other content you wish to share in a more engaging way (more engaging than basic PowerPoint).
  • Easy to use.
  • integrates well with the entire Adobe Suite.
  • Excellent at work and at home.
  • None to report - I think it is an excellent tool.
It is well suited for short videos of any content type, testimonials, and voice-overs for a task or PR of a product or service. Adding audio to a basic Powerpoint presentation in a more engaging and attention-getting way. Short training tutorials that can be shared around an organization. Completing school projects where video evidence is needed or beneficial e.g. an outcome of an experiment.

Not only is it a robust editing platform that is flexible, powerful, and easy to use, but it also integrates so well with the rest of Adobe's products—from After Effects to Audition, and Photoshop to Illustrator.
  • Integrates very well with the rest of Adobe's products (After Effects, Audition, Photoshop, Illustrator, etc.)
  • Provides robust editing tools in a modern platform—Premiere can do most everything that non-linear editing systems are needed for; however, Premiere often feels like it adapts far more often than many NLE competitors, allowing you to use a wide variety of file formats, resolutions, etc.
  • Easy to use and learn—I view Premiere as the sweet of being incredibly powerful while not being too complicated to learn. I've found it quite easy to train and onboard new users of all levels—whether seasoned editors or colleagues who are just learning how to edit for the first time.
  • Premiere tends to be buggy, particularly when new releases roll out. It can be very frustrating to get far along in a project only to encounter a bug that prevents you from using a tool or file format you need to. Rolling back to previous versions is possible but gets messy.
  • Subscription to the Creative Cloud: I don't mind this in a professional setting, but it can get very pricey for a casual user
  • Can be pretty resource heavy, however, that's the nature of most any NLE that is powerful
Premiere is particularly well suited for video editors who want a robust and flexible editing platform that doesn't limit their ideas—if you can dream it, you can quite often create it using Premiere alongside the rest of Adobe's tools. It's also great for collaborative teams who rely heavily on the rest of Adobe's products. All that being said, if you're someone who doesn't have any editing experience and is only looking to do basic editing projects once or twice a year, I'm not sure Premiere is the best tool for you.

I have been using Adobe Premiere Pro for the last several years to create and edit content for radio (web promotions), television, newspaper (web promotions) and most recently technical learning. Most recently in technical learning, I have been using it to create content to promote our e-learning streaming platform with videos intended for social media and Youtube.
  • It's an all-encompassing platform for video content creators. I've never needed come across a time where I needed a feature present and it wasn't there.
  • Premiere pro's ability to easily edit not only video but audio in many capacities is especially helpful. It's nice not to have to go into Audition for slight audio changes.
  • The quality of videos produced in Premiere, even by non-professionals is very impressive. It's very possible to create professional commercial grade promotions with this program.
  • There is quite a bit of a learning curve when it comes to learning Premiere Pro. I definitely suggest reading up on the basics or taking a starter class because muddling my first year through the platform without any assistance was hard and involved quite a bit of trial and error.
  • The platform itself is large, so much so that it takes up a good chunk of my hard drive. You will also need space for the Media Encoder and all your files. Keep this in mind especially if you have other Creative Cloud applications installed.
Premiere Pro is especially helpful for those with a basic knowledge of video creation, who want to make professional grade video content without having to rely on an agency. As someone who does marketing for the companies I work for, as well as occasionally freelancing, I find that Premiere Pro really fits my needs nicely. I wouldn't necessarily suggest it for someone just starting out in editing, at least not without some additional learning first.

While our organization doesn't do much in-house video, it was heavily used by our previous video producer. Currently, I use it in marketing to produce short videos, both for internal use (such as promoting optional professional development offerings at my company, or trainings for our sales team) and external use (minor video projects for social media, product demos, etc.).

That said, it's a VERY full-featured program that isn't something most people will find easy to just pick up without a course or at least a book to work through. Just because we're currently using it for relatively simple projects doesn't mean it can't handle the big stuff.

Video is a key part of any marketer's toolkit -- it has never been more important to communicate clearly, powerfully, and visually at a time when we're competing with not only shorter attention spans but also a firehose of content from competitors and distractions on social media. Adobe Premiere Pro lets us craft videos carefully and polish them to compete with anything else out there.
  • One thing I love about Adobe Premiere Pro (and indeed most Adobe products) is that it integrates so beautifully with the rest of the Adobe platform. Want to edit an audio track in Audition? No problem. Looking to work on still shots in Photoshop? Easy. Pull in work from Illustrator or After Effects? That's easily done also.
  • As mentioned before, Adobe Premiere Pro is very full-featured. While I cannot compare to what Avid or Final Cut offers (never having used them), Premiere Pro provides a far more extensive set of tools than most video editors will ever need. Color grading, effects, transitions, editing in a myriad of formats -- I have yet to find something I needed that Premiere Pro could not do.
  • I appreciate that the organization in Premiere Pro is flexible. Compared to, say, iMovie, which pretty much puts all your clips and files into one big bucket, Premiere Pro lets you choose exactly how you organize all of your stills, clips, audio tracks, titles, etc. if you're so inclined (and given how complex a large video project can be, I hope you're so inclined).
  • All those features are a bit of a double-edged sword. As is frequently a criticism with Adobe products, the learning curve is steep. But that's the nature of the beast with professional-level software.
  • There have been many times when I've gone to tweak the volume levels of a clip or a track using keyframes, only to find that some setting has disabled keyframes for audio tracks. This has resulted in needing to search online for a way to re-enable the keyframes. It's not a bug -- this is a clear choice by Adobe as they want to help make sure you don't make dumb mistakes after having invested a lot of time in a complex project, but I have still found it annoying.
  • One of the pros (flexibility in organization) can also be a con -- I would love to see Adobe encourage MORE organization right from the start, as often I'll start a project and then realize "Oh my goodness, I have to do a ton of cleanup here in order to keep 100's of files straight."
Great for people with a decent knowledge of video editing who already understand the basics, but it's not quite as well-suited for those who may be beginners. I have used Premiere Pro for projects ranging from 30 seconds long to an hour plus. It handles anything I can throw at it. But (aside from simple resizing or exporting a clip to a different format) almost anything I do in Premiere Pro takes a decent amount of setup.
